Implementing Nature-based Solutions on a large scale
In Latin American cities

What do we do?
We seek to understand what are the success factors that allow the large-scale implementation of Nature-based Solutions (NBS) in urban and territorial planning for the resilience and sustainability of urban areas in Ecuador, Peru and Colombia. To do this, an analysis of 15 case studies will be carried out in the three Latin American countries to understand how they were defined, designed and implemented. ENSLAC seeks, based on this research, to propose strategies and methodologies to promote the use of NbS as large-scale multi-purpose urban infrastructure.
Workplan
Here we present the ENSLAC work plan, which is divided into 6 activities:

Research planning

Governance, strategies and political instruments

Diagnose the process with its stakeholders

Site analysis/initiative

Monitoring and evaluation of impact

Consolidation and dissemination of research
Expected results
ENSLAC is part of a transition movement that our cities and territories must initiate/accelerate, in response to global issues that affect each territory, as a vector of solutions to local problems, but also taking advantage of the tremendous opportunities that every transition allows
Our research aims to provide new knowledge to the actors of the transition, as a catalyst to accelerate this process. We understand that the result will provide more added value if it adapts to the needs of these actors at a given time. Therefore, we will dedicate significant time to dialogue with the beneficiaries we identify, and we will work with constant questioning about what type of information, formats and dissemination channels are the most pertinent to bring relevant information, at the right time, to those who need it.

A new level of understanding of the mechanisms that allow the upscale of NbS as a tool for urban and (peri)urban planning.
NbS upscale processes clearly identified and replicable for Latin American cities.
The right information to the right person at the right time to ensure maximum impact.
Consolidate the NbS analysed as replicable solutions in the regional context, using their conceptual and practical proposals as a basis for their subsequent implementation.
